Placing links on every single website, forum and blog that you can possibly find might bring you a lot of traffic, from a wide spectrum of people.
However, that doesn’t mean that any of your traffic is sticking around long enough to actually be interested in your website and/or products and services. Of course, the law of “odds” state are that (logically) at least one hit out of every 1000 is going to purchase something. But, doesn’t that seem like a waste of time to you? Don’t you think that it would be a lot better if the odds that someone visiting will purchase something were a great deal higher?
The key to increasing the odds, is by ensuring that the traffic that visits your website are people that are more likely to be interested in what you have to offer. You could do this by using theme based link building, which basically means making sure that your website is visible to people searching for something unambiguous, rather than something that is vague. In a sense, this means finding a set “niche” that you fit comfortably into.
Them Based Links = The right sort of traffic
As this suggests, theme based links allow you to target audiences very specifically. But, what do you do if you aren’t sure what your theme or niche is? This is where you’ll need to do a little bit of research into your target audience. Ask yourself these questions:
- 1. Who exactly is your target audience
- 2. What do they do for fun? What interests them?
- 3. What are their buying habits like?
- 4. What websites do they frequent?
To find out all of this information, plus anything else that you think might help you suss out your potential clients, you will probably find that you have to undertake a great deal of market research. However, even though this might sound exhaustive, it is highly worth the trouble because it helps you to potentially pinpoint the exact themes, or areas, that you should be placing yourself.
Once you have placed yourself firmly into a set theme, with links on relevant websites, your own website should find itself attracting more traffic that are actually interested in what you have on offer.
Theme Based Links = Pages have Page Rank
When we place theme based links we look for pages with at least a PR of 2 and with no more than 100 outgoing links where possible. This will help your own page rank as we will inherit some of the PR from the link page.
